Full Itinerary
On arrival at the Knysna waterfront, board the ferry that will take you to Featherbed Nature Reserve on the Western Knysna Head. On arrival at the reserve, enjoy a spectacular 12-dish buffet lunch at the ‘Food Forest’ - a unique outdoor restaurant situated under the Milkwood Trees. After lunch, board a ‘Unimog’ (tractor drawn wagon) up to the top of the reserve. While stopping at a scenic lookout point, our specialist guides will share fascinating tales about Knysna and the surrounding area while you enjoy the panoramic views. An optional 2,2 km guided nature walk takes you through the forest, onto the cliffs, into the caves and along the scenic coast.
After the ferry returns to the Featherbed Ferry Terminus, we depart for an elephant interaction experience. The Knysna area’s elephant population dwindled to 1 cow in 1994. To try and save this area from losing all elephants, the first two elephants Harry and Sally arrived in October 1994. These two ‘ellies’ escaped culling in the Kruger Park. The park’s first baby was born in October 2003. The elephants here are provided with five-star board and lodging and have free range of the 60 hectare park. Enjoy a very close encounter, touching and feeding these gigantic mammals. Finally we take the scenic drive back to Wilderness for drop off at your hotel.
