Full Itinerary
America's most populous state and perhaps its most well known, California offers myriad delights for the Intrepid traveller. From the big city lights of Los Angeles and San Francisco to the vast expanses of the Joshua Tree National Park and Death Valley - this is a region of constant contrasts. Throw in the breathtaking Grand Canyon in Arizona and the irrepressible buzz of Las Vegas in Nevada and you have an incredibly memorable journey of discovery.
Day 1 San Francisco
Arrive early to soak up the views of San Francisco's scenic bay; from the Golden Gate Bridge, atop one of the iconic steep streets, from Fisherman's Wharf or from Alcatraz.
Day 2 Yosemite National Park
This national park packs jaw-dropping beauty at every turn, from drenching waterfalls to gemstone lakes.
Day 3 Bakersfield
Journey through the Central Valley to Bakersfield.
Days 4-5 Las Vegas
Hit Route 66 on the way to the capital of the gambling world, Las Vegas. Known as Sin City, Vegas is home to the iconic Strip, a wealth of stage shows and some of the world's wackiest casinos.
Day 6 Grand Canyon
Awe-inspiring, breathtaking, magnificent - the Grand Canyon is all of these and more. Take an optional helicopter flight over this vast Wonder of the Natural World, walk along the rim and peer down into its 1,600 m depth.
Day 7 Joshua Tree National Park
Home to the eponymous Joshua Tree, this national park is known for its spectacular desert scenery, striking rock formations and unique flora.
Day 8 Los Angeles
