Spaceships are like a good car to drive with more useful features than a campervan. This means that you have the freedom, flexibility and comfort that you can drive up steep hills, on gravel roads and even park in an underground carpark with no problems and still enjoy the cooking and sleeping options of a campervan.

Beta Hybrid
A world-first has landed in New Zealand!  The first hybrid Spaceship (or campervan) on the market for you to hire out! The Beta Hybrid has the same great features as a Beta Spaceships (except has only 3 seats rather than 4) as well as a hybrid engine which means you can save fuel and it's better for the environment!

Plus of course you can enjoy all the great features of the original Spaceship - being like a good car to drive, 24 roadside assistance, the Space community, DVD exchange, plus the extra support and guidance through our Space Stations.

Go green in your orange Spaceship!  You'll be the envy of all the Space Travellers, let alone campers in ordinary campervans!!

DRIVING IN COMFORT
The Beta Hybrid is a world-class driving experience. The modern layout and ease of driving is perfectly suited for driving in New Zealand's urban or rural areas.

Beta Hybrid features include:
Air bags, four cup holders, camera and screen for when reversing, spacious driver’s area, storage, new and even spacier console design, smoother gear changes,  better fuel economy (saving $20-30 per day), less emissions.  In keeping with all Spaceships they are fun, safe and easy to drive.

SLEEPING IN YOUR SPACESHIP
Spaceships uniquely have two sleeping options so you have the choice to sleep inside with the back door closed or sleep outside (by extending the bed out the back and attaching the rear awning to give you 30% more space and ventilation for hot nights).

We custom-fit Spaceships with a large, comfortable double bed that remains set up for the majority of the time.  This means that you don't have to rearrange the internal layout and/or move your gear each time you want to go to sleep.

The two sleeping options provide you with greater flexibility and comfort.  If it is extra cold or you are sleeping in an urban area where you'd prefer to have everything shut up then you can sleep with the internal bed option.  On a warm summer's evening you can extend the bed into the back awning and enjoy more space and more importantly some fresh air and ventilation!

Which ever way you choose to sleep, you will have a full size double bed with easy access to storage areas and the internal Spaceship features.

Cooking
Cooking while you're travelling in outer space couldn't be easier with your Hybrid Spaceship.

There are two quality portable single burner Gasmate cookers that sit on our customised cooker stand with attachable so you can cook comfortably outside your Spaceship.
Your Hybrid Spaceship comes with two gas canisters. Additional canisters can be purchased as a 4 pack when you collect your vehicle for only $10.00.
A four pack should have an approximate burn time of 8 hours.

The large side awning is included with the beta Spaceship. This creates an excellent outdoor area for cooking and eating under, protected from the sun and rain.
You can also use the rear bed extension as a great table to prepare food on, or sit around with food and drinks.

SIDE AWNING
Your Hybrid Spaceships comes standard with a side awning.  This is a great feature that provides shelter from the sun or rain when you are cooking or just relaxing outside.
The awning easily attaches to the roof and is held up with two tent poles. There is also an attachable side compartment which velcros to the awning that creates an private, enclosed space for use of the portable toilet.

SELF-CHARGING BATTERY SYSTEM
All Spaceships are set up with two batteries however the Hybrid has three!  One battery starts the petrol engine, this then charges and starts the electric battery which runs while you're driving and saves you petrol.

The third battery powers the fridge/freezer, internal lights, stereo and DVD player. This allows you to operate the fridge/freezer and watch a DVD while the engine is not running - this will run the auxiliary battery down but the Spaceship will always start on the other battery, and then self-charge as you drive.

This means you do not have to pay for powered sites like you would in an ordinary motorhome or campervan to charge your vehicle features.  This saves you money and means you can venture further off the main tourist trail.

The second battery has a battery life between 12-24 hours depending on how many DVDs you watch!

CD/DVD/MP3 PLAYER
Your Hybrid Spaceship comes with a 10 inch DVD/TV screen and a DVD/CD player with MP3/Ipod connector cord.  Lie back in your bed  and enjoy the surround sound as you watch a movie!
Our Space Stations located around the country provide you nationwide support and DVD exchange and you can swap you DVDs with any other 'Space Travellers' as well so you'll never run out of new DVDs to watch!

SWIVEL SEAT DESIGN
The middle seat of a Spaceship can be used in three different positions.
1. The normal position is for the seat to be facing forward.  The seat can fit one adult and must be facing forward while driving. There is a shoulder seat-belt and this enables a child seat or booster seat to be fitted if you require it. We can not cater for babies under the age of one.
2.The second position is if you turn the seat to the side so it is facing outside the side door. In this position you can set up the internal table to eat dinner or play with your Spaceship playing cards! 
3. The third position is if you turn the seat to face the back of the vehicle. You do this if you want to extend the bed internally (with the back door shot).  Extra bed legs are provided and they only take a short time to set up.

STORAGE
The Beta Hybrid Spaceships have the same storage setup as the Alpha Spaceship however we've made a few improvements to the vehicle to make it easier to access.
You still access the main storage from the back but we have added a large zip down area in the rear awning so you access the back storage area with the awning on. You can fit two soft bags in this area.  In the front storage area (behind middle seat) the cookers, cutlery and cooking equipment is stored with room for food as well. You can lock the rear storage and all your gear easily accessable but hidden for extra security. 

Please note: The Beta Hybrid Spaceship has slightly less storage space in the back than the Beta Spaceship as the battery pack is located in this back area.
